Greetings Vanquish! I will be randomly selecting members of the guild to hold a short interview and place the spot light upon them once per MONTH. Our first selected member for this is: SAVINA!
Tell us your Main characters name and any alts you have in Vanquish's ESO division?
All of them?? Fine, remember you did ask…..
Savina – My main is a DC Templar healer, master crafter, and a fashion expert want-to-be (I’ve been studying Rylii’s fashion expertise for years and aspire to someday dress that well).
Moria Petilius – DC Sorc that will someday be used for something other than her master crafting abilities I’m sure. However, for now she logs on every day and does writs and helps with inventory by holding excess items.
Zinnavyre – AD magic Sorc that I’ve been trying to learn to play also. Not very good with her yet, but Duck tells me someday I’m bound to hit the correct keys and get her DPS over 8k.
Joslin Stentor – DC mag Templar that I use to practice DPS, mostly I use her when in a group that don’t need a healer so that I’m not always switching CP’s on my main.
Callia Stentor – AD magic DK who follows Colby’s “Fun magic Dk tank” build. The build is fun and she does great solo’ing and can tank 4 man’s as long as the other 3 people don’t mind dying a bunch.
Velsa R’ain – EP stam DK that I do nothing with other than crafting writs (I really don’t care for the EP story line and have had a really hard time getting her to quest). But someday I’ll use her, or at least that is what I tell myself.
Mates-with-Duck – DC Warden and yep she is Argonian. Just had to try out Morrwind so started a Warden, she got to level 16 before I realized I couldn’t do anything with her until I maxed out her horse speed and carry capacity. So, she logs in daily to feed the horse for now.
All my Characters except the warden are level 50+ and master crafters. The only one I know how to play and do anything with is Savina. I have lately been branching out and trying to learn to DPS or tank since the guild healer’s numbers seem to be growing lately.
What are your normal hours of play?
I’m in the EST time zone and my regular hours are play are between 7-11 PM on weekdays and any time I’m not doing family stuff or chores on the weekends. Of course I make time for any special events that I want to attend also. (Stop worrying Teth, I'll be there) I’ve been on a strange schedule since July and it will not end until the first week of October, until then I can be found playing during the day time hours of 8AM-2PM.
What is it that draws you to ESO and what about the game are finding you enjoy most?
At first, I was drawn in by the story line, who doesn’t love an Elder Scroll story. I love questing (anywhere except EP) and that kept me busy for more than a year and half. Then I decided I’d like to see some more group play and social aspects of the game and that is when I found Oakos’s recruitment thread on the ESO forums and joined Vanquish. Now the thing I love and enjoy the most about ESO is Vanquish! Truth is Vanquish is what I am now there is no turning back and your stuck with me!
Tell us a bit about your past MMO experience?
I started gaming back in the early 90’s in a MUD RPG called Legends of Kesmai. Kesmai is where I fell in love with both gaming and Duck. The short side of the story is I found I loved adventuring in game and in real life with Duck! When Electronic Arts came along and bought the rights to and closed our beloved Kesmai we moved on to Ultima Online where we spent many years. Then there were also years in WoW, and Tera and so many others that we tried I can’t even remember them all. We also found 11 years in there to run our own on-line racing league. What I know is I go where adventure can be found, and I stay where I find a community I enjoy.
Why did you chose Vanquish as your main guild, what drew you to the guild?
When I decided it was time to join a guild and experience the social side of ESO I went to the official ESO forum and started looking at the guild recruitment section. When I read Oakos’s recruitment thread I thought to myself “They sound perfect for me”. I then thought about it for a few weeks. I was sure the recruitment thread was embellished, but I applied hoping Vanquish would be half as good as Oakos made it sound. What I found was something so great that no one could really do it justice using words alone. Vanquish offers so much more than I ever imagined possible.
You know you’ve found your guild home when daily you spend time thinking about the things you’ll do and who you’ll do them with the next time you log on. Hmmm…come to think of it that is how my 20+ year relationship with Duck started. Heck no I’m not doing you peoples laundry or making your coffee, so don’t even think about it. I love the fact that being Vanquish means being part of a family of great people. And that I spend time out of the game thinking about how to help and engage folks when I do log in is what makes this guild so special.
What has been your most memorable moment in ESO so far?
That would be the moment of accomplishment felt after 3+ months working with 11 other people to get our first kill on the Manticore in Vet SO. It was a great feeling and a huge deal for me personally (that story and my thanks are found here), and of course it is another of those great guild moments we have so many of in Vanquish. There are a lot of moments that stand out, things like Colby thinking he is immortal, Rylii actually being immortal more often than not, Oakos afk’ing on Oakos time, the Az and Kraz show, my first Snow point, Dae in a bath towel, Mercy and Nan bringing holding it all together since they have the most common sense of all of us…..you know the list of memorable moments go on and on and all include members of Vanquish.
If you had to choose one weapon what would it be? A sword, a bow, a staff or a rabid raccoon tied to a stick?
A mudball would be my weapon of choice. One of the best mementoes in the game. Nothing like throwing a good mudball at your guild leader while he tries to conduct a Roll Call meeting or State of the Guild Address. Using them to pass the time in HRC while you wait for the up top group to finish, tossing one at an unexpecting guild member that happens to be standing at the wayshrine you just ported to. Mudballs are the best!
What crafts have you spent the most time on?
I spent the most time on all the crafts, I have 6 master crafters! I couldn’t say for sure which one I’ve spent the most time on but I do know that alchemy, provisioning and enchanting can each be mastered in about 30 minutes if you have the right materials.
The crafting of Savina has been 25 years in the making but I think I’m close to mastering her. She’s far from perfect, but she enjoys herself and knows the key to success and happiness is to find the laughter in all things.
Finish this sentence: "You round the corner passing by the Officers barracks coming to a heavy wooden door, the sign posted above reads: - Commander Oakos, Leader of Vanquish - Upon opening the door you are surprised to find...
A perfectly imperfect guild leader scratching his head and wondering why did it take her more than 2 weeks to fill this out and what the heck are all those links for?
Don’t worry Oakos I got this! Just been a bit busy and want to give this interview my full attention so it had to wait until I had the time to fill it out properly. And all those links are my super sly way of trying to encourage the readers of this interview to take a look around the forums and learn more about Vanquish and its members. (Just don't screw up the formatting when you paste and copy!)
