In this guide, we are covering the more advanced aspects of crafting. For Crafting Basics, see the guide under Crafting I. Here, we will start with Writs and then go into each Crafting Profession on the skills, traits, and how to raise each to Master Level.

YOUR FIRST WRIT

 

Crafting Certification is also known as Writs. First and foremost, doing Writs is not completely necessary but it completes two objectives; An Introduction into Crafting with the tutorial and a way to generate income on a daily basis. Crafting Writs are repeatable quests to any certified crafter who is at least level 6. They can be accepted from boards located in major towns and cities. Successful completion of crafting writs will reward experience, gold, consumable box of supplies, and inspiration for that profession. Writs can be completed once a day, per character, and resets at 1-2 am EST pending on daylight savings time.

To become Certified in 6 of the 7 professions, you will want to speak to Millenith at the Fighter's Guild and Danel Telleno at the Mages Guild.

Millenith wants to grant you Certification in 3 Crafts; Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking. She will want proof of your abilities of course before she will certify you. Clicking on each option in the dialogue, will result in her asking you to gather materials, refine those materials, craft either an Iron Dagger, Homespun Gloves, or a Maple Bow. Then after all your hard work, you are to deconstruct those items. Once you have accomplished those tasks, you will now be Certified in that craft which allows you to start your Daily Writs in that craft.

 

Danel Telleno wishes to grant you certification in the three crafts that are Provisioning, Enchanting, and Alchemy. Like Millenith, Danel will want proof of your abilities. For Provisioning, he will want you to memorize the recipe for a Roast Pig, find the ingredients, and cook it over a fire. If you do not have the ingredients, they are usually located in the area along with the recipe.

 

For Enchanting, you will need to create a Triffling Glyph of Health. If you are new, most likely you will not have those runes available but alas, he will send you to a location to harvest those runes. Return back to the Enchanting table and create the glyph.

 

When getting certified for Alchemy, you will need to create a Sip of Health. Like earlier, if you do not have those ingredients, Danel will send you to a location to harvest them. You will need Columbine, Mountain Flower, and Natural Water. Combine all those to make the potion.

 

Jewelry Crafting became available with the Summerset expansion back in 2018. If you have either purchased the expansion, or have it through a DLC, once you click on a jewelry table, the skill line will open up to you. But that does not certify you in Jewelry Crafting. To do this, you need to travel to:

From the wayshrine, you will want to head down to the entrance of the Crafting Center. Felarian is located to the left in his purple attire.

 

Speaking to Felarian, you will go through the steps as earlier with Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking. Felarian wants you to create a simple Pewter Ring. If you do not have the supplies, he will direct you to a small area near the Supplies area to mine some Pewter Dust. Returning to him will move forward the quest by refining the materials, crafting the ring, and finally deconstructing. Once those steps are complete, Congratulations on being certified in all Seven Crafts.

 

Now that you are completely certified in all crafts, doing your Daily Writs is a good way to generate income. There are Tips to to make your life easier.

Without the addon, each crafting writ you do is a manual process. Which means going to the table and selecting the items you mean to craft. Elder Scrolls Online has made it easier to remember what you need to make with notes on the Top Left of your screen, but there is a simpler way. With the add-ons listed above, once you have accepted the quests and head to the crafting table, it will automatically craft Blacksmithing, Clothing, Enchanting, Jewelry, and Woodworking for you. If you do not have all the materials, it will list what is missing.

For Alchemy and Provisioning, the other two add-ons listed have a "writ" button on the crafting menu. You could do this per character but could be expensive if you do not have Chef (Prov), Brewer (Prov), or the Chemistry (Alch) skills unlocked. A simpler way is to PRE-MAKE these items. If you have another character that has those skill unlocked (or you can purchase them at guild traders), store them either on your character or place them in your bank. The Dolgubon's addon, once talking to a banker (including summoned banker), will pull out exactly the right quantity you need to complete the writ..

Below you will find the tables of Provisioning and Alchemy, and what to make to make for each level. It is common for players to have a few characters doing Max Level Crafting Writs, while the remaining characters at Level 1. But that choice is up to you. When it comes to Provisioning Writs, at lower levels, it is dependent on your alliance while the later levels, it matters not.

MASTER WRITS

 

Master Writs are special writs that can be rewarded to you after completing Top Tier writs. Top Tier means having the Maximum amount of skill points in either Solvent Proficiency (alchemy), Metalworking (blacksmithing), Tailoring (clothing), Potency Improvement (enchanting), Engraver (jewelry), Recipe Improvement (provisioning), and Woodworking (woodworking). When completing the writ, you have a chance for a sealed request to create a master item. Unlike regular writs, the requested master item can be of blue (jewelry only), purple or gold quality. They may include a trait, a rare ingredient, or component. Weapons and Armor will typically ask for a specific Crafted Set piece to be crafted. Crafting these will require special Crafting Stations found across the world at Crafting Sites, or you can find them all in our Guild Hall listed in alphabetical order start from the left. These items will also require a specific style (Motif) which must be known along with the style trait material. If you are missing the style material, you can purchase these through Guild Traders or with ESO Daily Rewards, you may have Crown Mimic Stones already in your inventory/craft bag.

 

Once Master Writs are accepted, they are entered into your journal as quests and the physical writ will disappear from your inventory. Take care before accepting a Master Writ to make sure you have the skills, researched trait, motif, and any other requirements to complete it. Once accepted, you cannot accept another Master Writ in your quest journal, until the current is completed or abandoned.

 

Completing a Master Writ will reward you with Large Writ Vouchers, which can be used to buy special, or unique items from Rolis Hlaalu, the Mastercraft Mediator, or Faustina Curio. The unique items that can be bought are rare furnishings, motifs, furniture plans and furnisher documents.

 

With Master Writs, the more complex the writ, the greater reward. The lowest possible rewards is 2 Large Writ Vouchers. The highest reward has been seen at least 355 Large Writ Vouchers (if not more).

 

Sealed Master Writs can be traded or transferred between characters. However, the requested item MUST be crafted by the character who accepted the Master Writ quest.

 

When doing Master Writs, we highly recommend grabbing the addon Writ Worthy. Once installed, open up your key commands and set an hotkey for the addon. Or type /writworthy in chat to open the window. (See the addon details on our Add-ons page under Crafting). Completing Master Writs also reward you with gold and very high experience. TIP: If you have a skill line you are trying to max out, or skills, fill your entire bar with those skills. Use an experience scroll before turning in your Master Writ Quests.

 

Should I complete this Writ?

 

It's a question you will ask yourself certainly and ultimately it is really up to you. But is it cost effective? If you have either the Tamriel Trade Center or Master Merchant add-on, you can see a break down on what it would cost to produce the what the selling cost is per voucher. The selling price fluctuates constantly pending on the type, trait, and materials. If by average the cost of a Legendary Blacksmithing Writ is 800gp per voucher, one might consider selling a High Volume Gold 300 voucher for 240k gp. But a Low Volume Gold 95 voucher for 76k gp will never sell. Why? Because of the cost involved in the Legendary Tempers/Tannin/Plating/Resin cost. The going rate of a Gold Tempering Alloy on TTC (at the time of writing) is averaging 11,750 gp each. It takes 8 Tempering Alloys to improve to Legendary. Why use 94,000 gp of material for a Writ that would sell for less?

 

The question remains, then, which ones are worth it? When it comes to Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking, anything over 150 vouchers is worth considering except those where Potent and Fortified Nirncrux are the traits. If over 250 vouchers, the Nirncrux could be considered.

 

For Enchanting, almost all are worth doing except the Legendary ones that use the "Hakeijo" Rune. Hakeijo runes only come from Imperial City and are bought by using Tel-Var. For gold, they sell for approximately 30,000 gp each.

 

Provisioning is about the same. Almost all writs are worth doing with some exception, and consideration to the Legendary ones. The Orzorg'as Smoked Bear Haunch and Psijic Ambrosia both take Perfect Roe to complete. Perfect Roe comes from skinning fish. The return ratio is roughly 100:1 to acquire a Perfect Roe. You could also purchase those on guild traders for approximately 25,000 gold.

 

Jewelry Writs, when some think about it, they shutter. In our Crafting I guide, Jewelry crafting was introduced with the Summerset Expansion. It will take years before the market is flooded with materials to drive down the cost. Due to that cost, ESO has reworked the Jewelry Writs to bring in Blue, Purple, and Gold while increasing the Vouchers for each. Blue Writ Vouchers are almost always worth it if they are Healthy, Stamina, or Magicka. And if you do a lot of trials, Bloodthirsty as well. Traits such as Infused, Harmony, Swift, Triune, etc.. are definitely not worth the cost in producing. Sealed Blue Writs generally pay out from Large 24-28 vouchers. Purple and Gold Writ Vouchers are extremely expensive still to create. A Zircon Plating (need 3) generally sells for 40,000 gp each while a Chromium Plating (need 4) sell in the area of 190,000 gp each. Once again, it's really going to depend on if you have the materials collecting dust if it's worth it. If so, a Sealed Epic Jewelry Writ over Large 200 vouchers might be considered. A Sealed Legendary Jewelry Writ rewarding over Large 300 vouchers could be considered as well. Or at least, held on to until you have the materials to put forth.

 

Alchemy is by far the easiest answer, All of them. Just make sure you have your Chemistry skill line at 3 so you produce extra potions while doing so.

 

In summary, there is no definitive answer, or as simple as Yes or No. You have to decide whether or not the Vouchers are worth the material you have and the motif styles you know. We hope what is written above gives you some understanding of what is involved. So what should you do with the ones you don't want? You can either try to sell them on the market or Destroy them. Blacksmithing / Clothing / Jewelry / Woodworking: Each item needs to be CP 150. You do not need to craft CP 160 gear. Each item will require:

• A specific trait (divine, infused, sturdy, etc..)

• A specific style (Morag Tong, Ancient Orc, Outlaw, etc....)

• A specific set (Hundings Rage, Law of Julianos, Varens Legacy, etc....)

• A specific quality; Superior (Jewelry Only), Epic, or Legendary.

 

Enchanting: All requested glyphs will either need to be CP 150 (Rejera or Jehade) or CP 160 (Repora or Itade). Those are defined as Superior Glyphs or Truly Superior Glyphs. Occasionally you may get a request to create a glyph with the "Prismatic" effect which requires the Hakeijo rune.

 

Provisioning: Will require a food or drink of the highest Recipe Improvement. The dish will usually be Gourmet/Distillate quality with the occasional Delicacy thrown in. You will need to have learned the recipe and have enough ingredients to make, usually, 8 samples. The Chef or Brewer skill will greatly help as it allows you to make more food or drinks.

Alchemy: Completing a Master Alchemy Writ requires the highest Solvent Proficiency and requires three (3) reagents, compared to the normal Alchemy Writs which may only require two (2). With these Master Writs you will either create 16 Potions or 16 Poisons. Having the Chemistry Skill maxed will greatly help as it can produce 4 potions, or 16 poisons for each attempt. Also note that a Master Alchemical Writ varies for Effects. If you have 2 Essence of Ravage Health, one might require Breach, Increased Spell Power and Ravage Health. While the other may require the effects of Enervation, Fracture, and Ravage Health. Once again, with the add-on Writ Worthy, this will automatically create the correct potion for you.
